Version 1 Prototype
One of the first goals of our AR integration is achieved. Our HMD setup can now show real environments with augmented elements.
For that we have used web cameras to display real time video feed, enhanced it through Unity with virtual content and displayed it in the Oculus Rift.
Integration and merging scenes with real time video feed is achieved through Unity game engine with the bulk of our code running in C#. We have taken the standard Oculus Unity Integration SDK and modified it to display camera video feed in Oculus viewports.
Current setup can show virtual objects merged into real time video feed with stable frame rate with 80 FPS. One of the next milestones will deal with integration of technologies for outdoor precise positioning, better performance, better hardware-software integration, and other challenges aiming at deep immersion.
